Today is Sofía’s birthday… I had given her the WebKinz the other day and she really enjoyed it, maybe my nieces and nephews (and my sisters!) can help out with how to use them and play with them online.  I also gave her some of my favorite candy, Sweedish Fish.

Spent the morning at the library and working on catalog spreadsheets for the Anne McGilvray company… my VA is on vacation

Have lunch out at the farm and it is some type of bean mix soup with peas… I eat it to test out if I really have an allergy to peas or if it was just a way of getting out of eating them when I was young… great place to try out an allergy, right? (I remembered it only causing some lump in my lip, nothing major) No reaction… great! now I can eat fried rice without having to pick out all of the peas!  Sofía gets a whiteboard for her birthday and we hang it up… her great grandmother will be coming in this weekend from Argentina (we have to go get her) and she will be bringing presents from Eugenia’s side of the family.  There will also be a party with her friends next week where the new library will be.  Sofía eats some rice with an egg, her meal of choice.

We go to my new house where I will be staying for the rest of my time in Chile, address 2761 something Meyer Avenue… in a nice little subdivision where all the houses look the same but different colors.  Lila, my landlady rents out 4 spaces… the room I am in which is in the house that she is living so we get to share the kitchen and other common areas.  There is another room next to hers upstairs but accessible from outside in the back and two little separate casitas (little houses) in the small back yard.

Spend the afternoon shopping for some things for the house like soap and shampoo and an alarm clock, slippers, etc.

Go to an English class at night with Matías to talk about Chicago and myself.  Go around the room and ask different questions of all of the different people for awhile… get one guy upset about the type of shoes to wear when hiking and where to go… he suggested Caterpillar shoes and someone else said that Hush Puppies would be good… well he thought that was ridiculous, “your Hush Puppies would explode if you took them out trekking!”  Found out about a salsa/merengue class that one of the students teaches on Saturday nights.  Had dinner and tried lomo a lo pobre which was a steak, french fries, onions and eggs… quite the combination.

Home to sleep… watch some disturbing shows on TV… Hannibal, at a particularly disturbing part, and on another channel some plastic surgery… but more graphic than others I had seen… sweet dreams! (much warmer in this room than in the farm!)
